How would you like to get advice from the WISEST MAN in the World, the RICHEST MAN to ever walk the earth, the man with so much gold he could build houses made only with Gold, the one whose family was so large, they could make up a village.
He’s none other than the GREAT KING SOLOMON!
Here’s a word from him that should help you advance your Financial (& all round) status:
“Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
How long will you lie there, you sluggard?
When will you get up from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
and poverty will come on you like a thief
and scarcity like an armed man.”
Proverbs 6:6-11 (NIV)
The first time I heard this, I thought it was hilarious, because there was a version that put it like “Poverty will overtake you…”, so my super active imagination went into overdrive to paint a vivid picture. I imagined driving my really fast Mercedes on the highway and feeling mighty good with myself, only for Poverty to boost past me in a super Fast (& Furious) Ferrari all the while wearing a sly smile. Disturbing picture I tell you, disturbing.
However disturbing that picture is, it goes a long way to illustrate what ‘King Solo’ was saying here. Let’s take a lesson from THE ANT MAN today, and maybe it’ll help us sit up as we go into another day/ week.
- There’s time for everything. If you don’t take the pains to sow in time, you’ll have ample time to weep in time of harvest. Take Your Pick.
- Rest is Good, if measured appropriately. Too much “kicking back” will soon give you a “set back”. Wake Up and Gather!
- You can beat poverty. It’s not poverty we should be struggling with but work. The right amount of work and consistency will put you so far away that poverty and misery would not be able to track you.
So next time you’re tempted to “let loose” or “kick back”, borrow my imagination and see yourself on the highway…
